Although Mercury Contract Flooring Limited has only been established since 2014 we bring over 30 years of knowledge and experience to the industry.
We offer a design, supply and fit service.
We use the Callidus software to digitise and quantify drawings in .pdf, .tif and .dwg formats ensuring high levels of precision.
We work with a number of flooring suppliers providing carpet tiles, luxury vinyl tiles, hardwood flooring, commercial vinyl, safety flooring, contract carpets plus anti-static and rubber tiles.
We are Associate Members of the Contract Flooring Association and are ISO9001:2015 accredited.
We hold Avetta supply chain accreditation which guarantees both pre-qualification and on-site Health and Safety competency.
Our Team
Mark Tait
Mark started his flooring career at C&I Supplies in Petersfield as an apprentice. Since then he has worked for Hants & Dorset Trim installing vinyl on single and double decker buses. He left in 1996 and made the decision to go it alone as a self-employed floorlayer. Over the years Mark has worked as a sub-contractor for many different companies including Selcourt Contract Flooring Ltd, Dee & Dee Flooring and Carters Contract Flooring (UK) Limited, whilst also securing contracts in his own right with Division 1 (working at the Home Office) and Total Design Shopfitting (refurbishment of One Stop convenience stores throughout the UK). In 2014 Mark and Joanne Tait made the decision to set up a limited company and hence Mercury Contract Flooring Limited was created. In 2016 long term colleague, Carl Howard, joined Mercury Contract Flooring Limited as an equal partner, bringing experience and new opportunities. Mark has qualified as both NVQ Level 2 and 3 during this time. Mark has mainly come off the tools to run the business side and puts together the quotations and meeting with clients.
Carl Howard
Carl started his flooring career as an apprentice to a self-employed floor layer, Keith Taylor and stayed with him for around 5 years. Carl then went out on his own as self-employed floor layer working as a sub-contractor to many different companies over the years including Delta Commercial Flooring and Gollop Contract Flooring. In 1998 Carl set up his own company, C.A.Howard Ltd and continue to work for the same companies. Carl’s projects include Reading Football Club and Beckham Academy. In 2016 Carl become a Director with Mercury Contract Flooring Limited where he earned his NVQ Level 3 qualification. Carl spends his working day on site, supervising our sub-contractors and ensuring works are carried out to our quality standards.
Joanne Tait
Joanne started her Admin career working for Pall Europe Limited and stayed for 8 years working in Sales and Marketing. After taking a break to raise their two children, she returned to work for Grant Thornton Accountants on a part time basis. When Grant Thornton moved their offices to Southampton Joanne was employed by the local NHS CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) in Fareham as Clinic Secretary. Throughout her working career she has supported Mark in typing invoices/quotes and handling the accounts throughout his self-employed years. Since Mercury Contract Flooring Limited was created Joanne now plays a key role in the office ensuring the smooth running of day to day operations.
